Tastefully Oklahoma contains over 75 recipes featuring MIO products as well as preparation tips and mouthwatering color photos for a suggested retail price of $16.95.
Many recipes were provided by Fleischfresser, Kimberley and MIO companies. The book also features winning recipes from MIO’s annual Recipe Round-Up contest, which received entries from more than 1,000 Oklahomans.
“It was a pleasure to partner with MIO on Tastefully Oklahoma,” said Chef Kurt Fleischfresser, owner of the Coach House restaurant. “I have been passionate about supporting Made in Oklahoma products for many years. This cookbook will be a great way to share recipes highlighting locally processed products with folks across the state and encourage them to use MIO products when cooking.”
With the tagline, “Good for you. Good for Oklahoma!” MIO’s 126-page collection of recipes personifies the heart of Oklahoma and includes everything from appetizers to entrees and desserts. Favorites include Okie-Red Pork Tenderloin, Red Earth O’riginal Ribeyes with Glaze, Churnin’ Day Kolaches, Minco Chocolate Delight and Land Run Sweet Biscuits, an authentic centennial recipe.
Many of the entrees are paired with wines from Oklahoma vineyards like Grape Ranch in Okemah and Tres Suenos in Luther.
“Research shows that consumers want to buy made in Oklahoma products and support our local companies,” said Richard Wasson, director for the MIO Coalition. “It’s our job to ensure they are aware of who those companies are and the products they make. We’re hoping that Tastefully Oklahoma will impact their buying decisions.”
Tastefully Oklahoma was not only created to share Oklahoma culinary traditions but also to enhance consumer awareness of Made in Oklahoma products. The MIO Coalition is comprised of more than 30 Oklahoma food manufacturers who employ 19,500 Oklahomans statewide.
A portion of proceeds from the cookbook will benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.
